Girl Power

The New Yorker magazine has an excellent piece about the 17th century Dutch artist Judith Leyster. She's one of the few female painters to have emerged from the mannishly mannish world of art history – and even then, she's barely known today. I hadn't heard of her til I read the story – and the usually brilliant Artchive has a very, very short entry on her.

Check out the New Yorker's audio slideshow for more on her and her work.
